At SOPHIE HAWKINS, we want the world to be a place where people live long, healthy and happy lives. That requires the planet to also be healthy and happy. Every choice we make takes us towards or away from this vision. 

Our approach to sustainability:

 

CIRCULAR MANUFACTURE

Our collections are designed and produced in line with Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Make Fashion Circular movement, and specifically #TheJeansRedesign programme. As an organic denim garment; we ensure that every jumpsuit is made to last, designed to be worn, loved and mended throughout, can be made again (upcycled into a new product) and eventually will be biodegradable at the end of its life.

  

PACKAGING

We believe that all packaging should be useful, reusable and recyclable! Thanks to help from Black Ink Projects, all of our packaging is made from reusable recycled paper or card, which according to them, is the most widely accepted recyclable material.

 

DENIM

We are committed to sourcing organic quality materials that are created without chemical waste. The Setouchi area of Okayama is committed to creating the world’s finest denim whereby our mill’s indigo yarn dyeing process uses recycled water too.
From start to finish our jumpsuit denim is spun, dyed, woven and sewn together within a 5 KM radius in Okayama, Japan.

 

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

We’re committed to creating a connection between you and your clothing. We design pieces that honour the environment and honour your body too. Inspired by connection, movement and balanced living, our pieces are made to move with you through all that you do.

 

RETHINK FASHION with Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the RSA

SOPHIE HAWKINS is proud to be one of 12 creatives contributing to the Rethink Fashion

#makefashioncircular programme with Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the RSA.

Between November 2020 and March 2021 we were brought together with a group of 11 other inspiring creatives to participate in a learning journey, along with a hosting team. 

Together we brought a mix of perspectives and experiences from different parts of the fashion system. 

We learnt with and from each other, exploring principles, mindsets, frameworks and tools to increase individual impact. And by connecting our work and cultivating new relationships, we’ve grown the potential of our collective impact towards a regenerative future for fashion.
